The Story

After 26 hours of labor, Kyle Christopher Harker was born on February 3rd, 2008 at 2:03 am via C-Section. He weighted 8 lbs 7 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. He spent his first 3 days in NICU with pneumonia and on antibiotics but he is now a very healthy, growing boy! He is certainly the light of my life and I can't tell you how incredibly lucky I feel to be so blessed with such a wonderful gift.

Little Einstein Moment

Kyle just loves watching the Little Einsteins on the Disney Channel while he eats his breakfast. The way the kids on the show get their rocket to blast off is to pat their laps, then their tummys and then they raise their arms in the air and say "Blast Off!"

Kyle has been imitating this for a few months now but I finally was able to get him on video doing it. Very cute!

Playing with Cousin Julia

Kyle's cousin Julia was able to come and visit for Kyle's birthday
We haven't seen her since before Kyle was born
so this is the first time they have seen each other.
They have been so cute together and give lots of hugs and kisses to each other

Kyle's First Birthday!

We started off the morning of our FIRST birthday with some organic waffles with syrup and some soy yogurt

Then we got dressed in our special "Birthday Boy" t-shirt

Mommy got some balloons but cousin Julia liked them and had a hard time sharing them

We opened presents with Cousins Andrew, Marin and Julia all helping!
I don't think Kyle even touched the wrapping paper he had so much help
He got some mega blocks, books, clothes, shoes, puzzles, and balls to throw

Then it was time for cake!
Grandma Marilyn made a special dairy-free oatmeal cake with soy frosting

Kyle played in it but never actually ate any on his own.

Here is all his loot!
Kyle had a wonderful first birthday! He wasn't sure what the hype was about but knew it was a special day just for him.
Thank you to all of you that helped make this such an amazing day!

I can't believe it's been a year????

I watch this video and I get so emotional and teary eyed. I can not believe it has been a year since I was blessed with this amazing little boy. He has grown up so fast and he has definately enlightened every persons life that he has touched. He is such a joy to be around and makes everyone smile. I just can not believe that my little baby is going to be one year old in just 2 days. Where did the time go???

Thank you to each and every one of you that has been in our lives and helped us out so much. We love you and appreciate you more than you will every know.

Here's to another wonderful year of fun memories with Kyle!

Cheers!

Kyles' new birthday toy

OK... OK... OK! I know it isn't Kyle's official birthday yet, but I suck at waiting to give gifts! No, those aren't CHRISTMAS pajamas, they are WINTER pajamas!
ANYWAY, Mommy got him the little people farm set!
If I could remember to turn the red-eye option OFF of the camera, his eyes would have been open! DUH

He loves the animals and loves the sounds that the barn makes.

Build-A-Bear

For Kyle's pre-birthday celebration his cousins Andrew and Marin wanted to go to build-a-bear with him.
Kyle picked out the MONKEY as his birthday treat

Cousin Marin helped to push the petal for the stuffing to fill the bear. Kyle didn't like being that close to the loud noise of the machine

Then we went to the computer to give his monkey a name. His cousin Andrew suggested we name it ANDREW, so we did.

Here he is, proud as pie with his new stuffy.

Next, he wanted to go over and give his new friend a bath

Cousin Andrew helped him scrub-a-dub-dub his new Monkey
Kyle has such a fun time not only building his new monkey, but watching his cousins and all of the other kids build theirs. He is such a social butterfly! He talks to all of the kids and flirts with all of the girls!

Our new diet of SOY!

SOY YOGURT FACE!!!!!!!
Now that Kyle is so close to being one, I decided to explore the soy options due to his milk allergy. We went to Whole Foods (which must be the most expensive store in the universe) and bought a few things.
We bought soy yogurt, tapioca bread and rice cheese. Sounds yummy doesn't it!
Well, he liked the cheese, loved the yogurt but the bread is VERY dry. I added a bit of strawberry jam and he seemed to be able to choke it down. As for the soy milk, far from a hit! He shuttered and threw the cup!

SO... at Costco yesterday we bought the vanilla flavored soy milk. He liked it!

This milk allergy is going to be a huge pain in the behind! I am hoping he grows out of it but for at least the next 2 years....... Soy is going to have to be our friend.

Stay tuned to see what we come up with for our ONE YEAR birthday cake and ice cream substitute
